WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

"The devil loves it when we skip church on rainy Sundays...
'Cause he knows that dry people burn faster."
(Quote sent in by
Kathy Jeske)

Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men; knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.

Colossians 3:23-24

Now as to the love of the brethren, you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another; for indeed you do practice it toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, to excel still more, and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you; so that you may behave properly toward outsiders and not be in any need.

1 Thessalonians 4:9-12

And He said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."

Matthew 22:37-40

But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever

1 Timothy 5:8

"IT'S NOT THE HOURS YOU PUT IN THAT COUNT,
BUT WHAT YOU PUT IN THE HOURS."

This quote is from Our Daily Bread - September, 2005 Issue.

"For where two or three have gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst." Matthew 18:20

Your site is wonderful, thank you for making it available to all. I do have a question for you.
You have a link for the Perfect Angels christening gown patterns, which I ordered a while ago & recieved.
I am trying to make the beaded diamond delights gown & am having an endless amount of trouble with the bodice ruffle row. No matter what I do, it just won't come out right. I was wondering if you or anyone visiting your site has had the same problem and it they were able to solve it. I have tried contacting the seller by email to no avail. Any help would be so greatly appreciated. I have been crocheting for about 25+ years and this pattern has me very frustrated....also the link doesn't work for me either.......... Again thank you for a very well rounded site. CD

Click here to email CD if you can help with this pattern.

Subject: baby abc afghan

I have tried the baby abc afghan and wonder how you make your letters so nice? I have started this afghan over 2 times now and my puff stitches won't stay to the front. Some stay, but most go to the back and I have to keep pushing them to the front. I want to make this for my grandson and was hoping you might have a tip for me. I saw the photo of the afghan and I thought you must have made it. I'm using caron simply soft, but I did change to a larger hook because the yarn kept splitting and I was having trouble pulling thru all loops on the puff stitch. The larger hook helps, but my puff stitches don't look like the ones in the photo...sorry to bother you and hoping you will help me!

Thanks in advance! Dar

>>"wonder how you make your letters so nice? "

Maybe because I've made over a dozen of them :o)
I'm actually working on one in white right now. I use Bernat Baby Coordinates Yarn for mine.
I've never had a problem with my puff stitches trying to go to the other side.
I yarn over and draw through 8 lps, then yarn over and draw through the last 2lps.
Then when I work the single in the next stitch the puff just goes where it needs to,
being the side away from me.

If you crochet really loose you may want to try an extra yarn over to add more loops which would make your puffs larger and more stable. It won't matter much for the overall design if you add more loops to each puff.

<< DAR'S REPLY >>

Hi Lisa - me again about the abc afghan! I just wanted to thank you - I am on row 21 (my 3rd attempt now) and using your tips, I am doing just fine. I am still pushing the puff to the front because I couldnt figure out how to start with the X like you do (some time I'll figure that out). I tried your suggestion of making an extra wrap for the puff and it works great! My letters now look much better and don't pop to the back so I think my puffs were just too small. Your kindness is appreciated so much - can't wait to finish this for my grandson! Thanks again and keep up your great work - I saw some of your finished items on the website - you are very talented! Dar

<< LISA'S REPLY >>

That's great Dar... so glad the afghan is looking better for you. I'm still working on mine... I'm on the divider row above "S,T,U,V,W". I'll get back to it sometime :o) I wouldn't be that far but I had to take my Mamaw and my Aunt to the doctor on Monday and that's what I took to work on. I can't stand just sitting around so I try to have a project ready to go anytime. I'm sure your little grandson will love his new afghan. OH... thank you so much for such a nice compliment too! I sure wish all of my online friends lived closeby so we could crochet face-to-face.

I just found your website. Thank you so much for the testimony and God bless you for letting the Lord Jesus Christ reveal himself through you, in your website. Thanks for your help in crocheting. I met my husband in October of 1990, 1st date January 14th 1992, engaged Feburary 14th, married April 6th, and you guessed it, we found out I was pregnant on May 20th. One week after our honeymoon. Our son is 14 and has been with us to watch us grow in the Lord. He was saved about 3 years ago. Our daughter is 7 has accepted, as she says, "Jesus is in my heart" 2 years ago. Thanks again, In His Grip, Lori

I love this sight! Crocheting is my favorite hobby and I loved it since I was 10 years old! Keep up the good work and my God keep you in his loving care.

Hello Lisa!

Here is a photo of my Angell Marie (yes, 2 ll's) :o)

She's a 9 1/2 year old Pomeranian. She sure is a beauty. Using your pattern, I have made her over 5 sweaters. This green and mauve one is her holiday sweater. :o) If you would like to post her photo in your DogHouse section, I would be honored. With Much Thanks, Candace (Michigan)

I found your site through a link from another site. I learned to crochet from my grandmother when I was a young girl. I picked it up again when going through a stressful time in my life...crochet proved to be my therapy, and from there I began making baby aphgans for expectant mothers at work, and now today I enjoy designing many of my own projects, using inspiration from other crochet fanatics as myself. I enjoy your site very much. It is one I will frequent often on my hunt for ideas and inspiration.

I have been crocheting for many years. I just found your web site and really enjoy it. The patterns are just what I was looking for (Free some of them). I live on a limited income just one check a month. I like to make things for other people and Babies. It makes me feel good to see their faces when I give them the finished project. I send Babies projects to Angels4Preemies.com and to other friends. I also send them to family members for Holiday presents. Thanks for all of the patterns.

Thank a Lot Lee Driesbaugh, AZ

Thank you for some very nice patterns. I agree your site is so easy to navigate that it was a pleasure to go and visit. In closing I send greeting from Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada...

Sorry to not have written before, but I want to commend you for such a wonderful website. It's a breeze to navigate and your information is priceless! I appreciate the link in my email which saves time. I used to like freepatterns.com, but their site moves slower than a snail's pace and yours is fantastic. God bless you in your witness and in sharing what's important.

Valerie "Fleur" Moore

Lisa:

Dreambook is so appropriate for you. Your newsletters are always a dream come true. Never have I left one without emailing an friend a item or printing a pattern for myself. As I've written you before, I even print out some of your stitch instructions and I've been crocheting over 40 years-LOL.

VIEWER JOKE
Submitted by Lois K.

A young graduate applied for a job.
When she returned home, her mother asked how the interview went.

"Pretty good, I think," she replied.
"But if I go to work there I won't get a vacation until I'm married."

Her mother of course, had never heard of such a thing and asked, "Are you sure that's what they told you?

She replied, "No they didn't tell me that, but on the application it said vacation time may not be taken until you've had your First Anniversary."

There was a gentleman in the hospital bed next to me. He was covered with bandages from head to toe.
I said to him, "What do you do for a living?"

He said, "Well, I used to be a window washer."

I asked, "When did you give it up?"

He replied, "Halfway down."

During the course of being interviewed by the press, the noted doctor was asked by a reporter: "Doctor, did you ever make a serious mistake?"

"Yes, was the reply, "I once cured a millionaire in three visits!"

A nursery school teacher was delivering a station wagon full of kids home one day when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the fire truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children fell to discussing the dog's duties.

"They use him to keep crowds back," said one youngster.

"No," said another, "he's just for good luck."

A third child brought the argument to a close.
"They use the dogs," she said firmly, "to find the fire hydrant."

A woman phones up her husband at work for a chat. . . .

He said, "I'm sorry honey but I'm up to my neck in work today".

She said, "But I've got some good news and some bad news for you dear."

He said, "OK darling, but since I've got no time now, just give me the good news, OK?"

She said, "Well, the air bag works."

A goober goes to a show and after sitting down, a ventriloquist comes on the stage, and goes through the routine goober jokes.Suddenly the goober jumps up screaming, blaming the man for the way she is treated at work and presented in the media.

The ventriloquist starts to apologize.

The goober then looks at him and says,
"Look, you stay out of this, I'm talking to that little guy on your knee."

A lawyer had successfully handled a difficult law case for a wealthy friend. Following the happy outcome of the case, the friend and client called on the lawyer, expressed his appreciation of his work and handed him a handsome Moroccan leather wallet.

The lawyer looked at the wallet in astonishment and handed it back with a sharp reminder that a wallet could not possible compensate him for his services. "My fee for that work," acidly snapped the attorney, "is five hundred dollars."

The client opened the wallet, removed a one-thousand dollar bill, replaced it with a five-hundred dollar bill and handed it back to the lawyer with a smile.

Mr. Smythe had been giving his second-grade students a short lesson on science. He had explained about magnets and showed how they would pick up nails and other bits of iron. And now it was question time...

"Class," said he, "My name begins with the letter `M' and I pick up things.... What am I?"

A little boy on the front row said, "You're a mother!"
