This basket pattern can be used for Halloween to give out treats
or fill it with treats and hang it on a Christmas tree.

The following pattern is my original design and can only be copied or printed for personal use.

MATERIALS:

Hook: Size G (I use Boye brand)

Yarn: Any 4ply worsted weight yarn. Red Heart yarn works really well.

Stitches used: ch, sl st, sc, hdc.

Size: Approximately 2-1/4" diameter; 1-1/2" tall (excluding handle); 4-1/4" tall including handle. The basket circumference is approximately 7-3/4".

Difficulty: EASY

RND 1: Chain 3, 11 hdc in 3rd ch from hk, join with sl st in top of beg ch3, ch 2, turn.

RND 2: Hdc in same hdc as beg ch 2, 2 hdc in each hdc. Join with sl st in top of beg ch 2. Ch 2, turn.

RND 3: Hdc in bl only of each hdc. Join with sl st in top of beg ch 2. Ch 2, turn.

RNDS 4 & 5: Hdc in both loops of each hdc. Join with sl st in top of beg ch 2. Ch 2, turn.

RND 6: Hdc in both loops of each hdc. Join with sl st in top of beg ch 2. Ch 1, DO NOT TURN.

RND 7: Work rev sc in each stitch around . DO NOT FASTEN OFF.

HANDLE: Ch 20, attach with sl st to opposite side of basket, ch 1. Working back across the handle, do 20 scs around the handle, attach with sl st to the base of the handle (where you started the ch 20) being careful not to twist).

FASTEN OFF.

NOTE: Use a small amount of a contrasting color to tie a bow on each side of the handle. See illustration as a guide for placement.
