Christmas Candle Cozy Free Crochet Pattern

Fits a small jar candle.
I used Home Interior brand.
It was 9" around and 3-3/4" tall


The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
Please contact me if you find any errors.

MATERIALS:

South Maid Bedspread Cotton Size 10
    Article D54; Color 494 - Victory Red

Steel Hook Size 3 (2.10 mm)

Stitches: ch, sl st, sc, dc.
Shell: 5dc in same st.

GAUGE:
Width: 4 shells + 4 sc = 3-1/2"
Height: 5 rows = 1"

Difficulty:  EASY


R1: Ch40, join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Ch4, do not turn.
Sk next ch. Dc in next ch.
(Ch1, sk next ch, dc in next ch) around to last ch. Ch1, sk last ch.
Join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch4.
(This looks like a circular ladder)

R2: Do not turn. Sl st in next ch1 sp. Ch3, 4dc in same sp.
Sc in next ch1 sp. (5dc in next ch1 sp [shell made], sc in next ch1 sp) around.
Join with sl st in top of beg ch3.

R3: Turn. Sl st in next sc. Ch3, 4dc in same sc.
Sc in center dc of next 5dc shell.
(Shell in next sc. Sc in center dc of next shell) around.
Join with sl st in top of beg ch3.

Rep R3 until candle is covered as much as you want.
I repeated R3 until the cozy measured 3-3/4" tall.

Fasten off.
