Delicate Facecloth Free Crochet Pattern

Measures
6-1/2" x 7"

The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
Please contact me if you find any errors.

MATERIALS:

Aunt Lydia's Bedspread Cotton - Size 10 (less than 3/4 ounce)
Steel Hook Size 1

Stitches: ch, cr st, dc, sl st, sc.

Cr st:
Skip a stitch, work a double crochet in the next stitch,
then back up and work a double crochet in the skipped stitch.
This "crosses" the two doubles.

Difficulty: MEDIUM


R1: Ch44, dc in the fourth ch from the hook.
Dc in ea rem ch. (42dc)

R2: Ch3, turn. (counts as 1dc)
Dc in next st.
(Sk next st. Dc in next st. Dc in skipped st.) [Cr st made]
Cr st across to last 2dc.
Dc in last 2dc.

R3: Ch3, turn.
Dc in next st. Cr st over ea cr st across to last 2sts.
Dc in last 2 sts.

Rs 4-18: Rep R3.

R19: Ch3, turn. Dc in ea dc. (42dc)

SHELL EDGE

Sl st around the post of the last dc.
Ch3.
Working into the row ends... 4dc around same st.
(Sc around the post of the next dc.
5dc around the post of the next dc.) across.
Sc in the end of the same st the last 5dc are around.
Sk 1dc.
5dc in the next dc.
*Sk 2dc. Sc in the next dc. Sk 2dc. 5dc in the next dc.
Rep from * across to last 3dc.
Sk next 2dc. Sc in the last dc.

Working down the other side: 5dc around the post of the same dc.
(Sc around the post of the next dc. 5dc around the post of the next dc.) across

Sc in the end of the same st the last 5dc are around.
Sk 1dc. 5dc in the next dc.
* Sk the next 2dc. Sc in the next dc. Sk next 2dc. 5dc in the next dc.
Rep from * across to the last 3dc.
Sk the next 2dc.
Sc in the last dc. (same st as the first 5dc are around)
Sl st in the top of the beg ch3.

Fasten off.
