MATERIALS:
Bernat Baby
Coordinates
Hook Size F
12" lengths of 1/8" picot edged ribbon (pink for Emma)
Craft Stick
Emply Film Canister
Beans
Stitches: ch, sl st, sc, hdc, dc.
Difficulty: EASY/MEDIUM
R1: Ch3, 7hdc in 3rd ch from hook. Sc in top of beg ch3 to join.
R2: Do not turn. Sc in ea
st working in a continuous round until the piece will cover the craft stick.
I worked approximately 16 rounds.
TOP
R1: 2sc in ea st. (14 sc)
Sc in ea st around in a continous round until sides of film canister are covered.
Join with sl st.
R2: (Ch4, sc in next st) around. Sl st in next ch4 sp.
R3: Ch3, (dc, ch2, 2dc) in same sp. (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in ea rem ch4 sp. Join with sl st.
Fasten off.
FINISHING: Weave ribbon
through Ch4 sps on R2.
Use scissors or a knife to put a slit in the bottom of the film canister. Insert
the craft stick about 1/8" into the hole. Fill canister with beans leaving
room for them to rattle. Put lid on canister and then secure it all with tape.
I wrapped tape around the stick and over the lid and back around several times
to keep it all together. Insert assembled canister and craft stick into the
crocheted rattle cover. Draw
the ribbon tight, tie a good knot. Tie a bow and then knot the loops of the
bow to be sure the baby can't get it open.
