The following pattern is my original design.

MATERIALS:
Red Heart 4-ply ww yarn (White and Red)
Hook Size I
Stitches: ch, sl st, dc, sc.
Difficulty: EASY
R1: Ch4, 11 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join with sl st in top of beg ch4. (12dc)
R2: Ch3, do not turn. 2dc in ea st. Join with sl st in top of beg ch3. (24dc)
R3:Ch3, do not turn. 2dc in next st. *Dc in next st. 2dc in next st. Rep from * around. Join with sl st in top of beg ch3. (36dc)
R4: Ch3, do not turn. 2dc in next 2 sts. *Dc in next st. 2dc in next 2 sts. Rep from * around. Join with sl st in top of beg ch3. (60dc)
R5: Ch3, do not turn. Dc in ea st. Join with sl st in top of beg ch3.
R6-13: Rep R5.
R14: EDGE: *Ch3, dc in 3rd ch from hook. Sk next st. Sc in next st. Rep from * around.
Fasten Off.
FLOWER APPLIQUE:
Ch6, join to form a ring. Ch1. Sc in ring. *Ch3, dc in 3rd ch from hook. Sc in ring.
Rep from * 6 times.
Ch3, dc in 3rd ch from hook. Join with sl st in 1st sc made.
Fasten off leaving a long tail. Attach to hat using a yarn needle. I stitched in between all the petals to secure the flower onto the hat.
OPTIONAL: Make extra flowers and put them all over the hat.
