MATERIALS:
Bernat Baby
Sport (Baby Ecru - less than one 10.5 ounce skein)
Hook Size J
Stitches: ch, rev sc, sc, sl st,
dc.
Difficulty:
MEDIUM
R1:
Ch4, (work all of the following sts in the 4th ch from the hook)
2dc * Ch1, 3dc.
Rep from * twice more.
Ch1. Join with sl st in top of beg ch4.
R2: Ch3, turn. (2dc, ch2,
3dc) in next ch1 sp.
* (3dc, ch2, 3dc) in next ch1 sp.
Rep from * twice more.
Join with sl st in top of beg ch3.
R3: Ch3, turn. 2dc in next
open space on the side of the square.
(3dc, ch2, 3dc) in the next corner sp.
* 3dc in next side sp.
(3dc, ch2, 3dc) in next corner sp.
Rep from * twice more.
Join with sl st in top of beg ch3.
Rs4-32: Ch3, turn. (this
will always count as 1dc)
Work 3dc in ea side sp and work (3dc, ch2, 3dc) in ea corner sp.
At the end of ea round always join with a sl st in the top of the beg ch3.
R33: Ch1, do not turn. Continue working in rounds, sc in ea dc around, placing 3sc in ea corner ch sp. Join with a sl st in the first sc.
Rs 34-36: Ch1, do not turn. Sc in the BLO of ea st, placing 3sc in the BLO of the center sc on ea corner. Join with a sl st in the first sc.
R37: Ch1, do not turn. Rev Sc in ea st around, placing 3 Rev Scs in the center st on ea corner. Join with a sl st.
Fasten off.

I wanted to use camo yarn but only found it in Red Heart which isn't soft enough for a baby. So, I made the afghan in baby yarn and each letter for the name in Red Heart camo. I placed the letters where I wanted them and sewed them on using a yarn needle and a whip stitch through the front of the stitches of the afghan.
