Measurements

The following pattern is my original design.
I found the stitch idea in a booklet called ABC's of Crochet by The Needlecraft Shop.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
Please contact me if you find any errors.

MATERIALS:

Red Heart Super Saver (16 ounces)
      Color: 0984 Sh. Dusk

Hook Size J

Stitches: ch, sl st, dc.

Difficulty: DIFFICULT

R1: Ch6, dc in 4th ch from hook. Dc in next 2ch. (4dc)

R2: Ch6, dc in 4th ch from hook. Dc in next 2ch. (4dc) (increase made)
Join with a sl st to top of beg ch on the first section, Ch3, 3dc around post of same beg ch.

R3: Ch6, dc in 4th ch from hook. Dc in next 2 ch (4dc)
NOTE: each time you begin a new row the first part in an increase... then you turn the project and it's like you are working up a set of steps as you finish the row.
(Join with a sl st to top of beg ch. Ch3, 3dc around post of beg ch.) twice.

Increase Row: Ch6, dc in 4th ch from hook. Dc in next 2 ch (4dc) (Join with a sl st to top of beg ch.
Ch3, 3dc around post of beg ch) across.

Repeat the Increase Row until the cape is near the size you want.

Decrease Row: Ch1, turn. Sl st in first four sts. Ch3, 3dc around post of same st. Sl st to beg ch of next section. Ch3, 3dc around post of same st.) across to the last section. Join with a sl st to the last section as before.

Repeat the decrease row as many times as you want. I used almost 16 ounces for Haley's but you can make this cape any size you want.

TIES:
I used Haley's spool knitter to make the tie strings... use that if you have one. If not you can crochet or braid your ties. Wrap the cape around the intended person to see where the best place is for the tie strings.

NOTE: I made this cape for Haley as part of her Halloween Costume.
Remember-- Supervise any child wearing an article of clothing that has tie strings.
To reduce the risk of strangulation you can use a snap or button to close the cape.

FASTEN OFF.
