Mitten Christmas Ornament Crochet Pattern

Measures
4-1/4 " x 3-1/2"


The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
Please contact me if you find any errors.

MATERIALS:

Red Heart 4 ply WW Yarn (white)
Small amount of green sport weight yarn.
Hook Size G
Yarn needle

Stitches: ch, sl st, sc, sc2tog, dc, bpdc, fpdc.

Difficulty:  MEDIUM


CUFF:

R1: ch14, join to form a ring. Ch3, dc in ea ch. (14dc)
Join with sl st in top of beg ch3.

R2: Do not turn. Sl st around the front of the post of the same dc as joining. Ch3.
Bpdc around next dc. (Fpdc around next dc. Bpdc around next dc) around.
Join with sl st in top of beg ch3.

MITTEN:

R3: Ch1, do not turn. Sc in ea st. Place marker. Do not join.

R4: Begin continuous round. Sc in same st. 2sc in next st. (Sc in next st. 2sc in next st) around.
Do not join.

Rs5-6: Sc in ea st.

THUMB:

R7: Sc in 4 sts. Ch2, turn.
Sl st in 1st sc (where marker is)
Ch1, turn.
Holding the chains behind the working round, sc in same st as marker.
Sc in next 3sc. Sc in next 2 chs.

Rs8-9: Work in continuous round, sc in ea st.
Fasten off leaving a 4" tail. Sew through rem sts and draw thumb closed.

R10: With the thumb facing you, rejoin yarn in the first unworked st to the left of the thumb.
Sc in ea st around to other side of thumb. (17sc)
With thumb folded down (toward you), sc in 4 sts across the back of the thumb. Place marker.

Rs 11-12: Sc in ea st. (21sc)

R13: (Sc2tog, sc in next st) around.

R14: Sc in ea st.

R15: Rep R13.

R16: Sc2tog, 3 times.

Fasten off, leaving a tail. Using a yarn needle, weave the yarn tail through the rem sts and draw the top of the mitten closed.

TRIM

Join green yarn with sc in any unworked lp on the foundation chain.
Ch3, (sc in next st, ch3) around. Join with sl st.

Fasten off.

Press the mitten flat and use the green yarn to blanket stitch around the edge of the mitten.
I did this only along the sc rounds... not on the cuff.

Fasten off.
