Open Top Preemie Hat Free Croche Pattern

 

Measures
10" Head Circumference


The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
Please contact me if you find any errors.

MATERIALS:

Caron Simply Soft - 4ply WW Yarn (less than 1 ounce)
Size E Hook

Stitches: ch, bpdc, fpdc, dc, picot, sc, sl st.

Gauge: 8sc & 4 rows of sc = 2"

Difficulty: MEDIUM


R1: Ch38. Dc in the hump of the 4th ch from the hook.
Dc in the hump of each rem ch.
Bring the ends of the row tog and work a sl st to join in the top of the first dc.
Pull the yarn tail through at the base of the stitch to join the round at the bottom.

R2: Do not turn. Sl st around the front post of the same st as joining.
Ch3 (counts as one fpdc)
Bpdc around the next st.
(Fpdc around next st. Bpdc around next st.) around.
Join with a sl st in the top of the first st.

R3: Ch3, do not turn.
Dc in ea st. (36dc)
Join with a sl st in the top of the beg ch3.

R4: Sl st in the next st. Ch3. Dc in ea st around. (36dc)
Join with a sl st in the top fo the beg ch3.

Rs5-7: Rep R4.

R8: -Eyelet Round-
Sl st in the next st. Ch4. Sk next dc. Dc in next dc.
(Ch1. Sk next dc. Dc in next dc.) around to last st.
Ch1. Sk last st.
Join with a sl st in the 3rd ch of the beg ch4.

R9: Sl st in the next ch1 sp.
Ch3. Dc in ea dc and in ea ch1 sp. (36dc)
Join with a sl st in the top of the beg ch3.

R10: Ch1, do not turn.
Sc in same st.
(Sc, Picot) in next st.
*Sc in next st. (Sc, Picot) in next st.
Rep from * around.
Join with a sl st in the first st.

Fasten off.

TIE STRING

Make enough ch sts to measure approximately 18".

FINISHING

Weave Tie String through the Eyelet Round.
Leave top open and tie a small bow; OR Pull the opening closed and then tie a bow.
