Picot Cross Bookmark Crochet Pattern

7" tall x 5-12" wide
crocheted portion only


The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
Please contact me if you find any errors.

MATERIALS:

#10 Bedspread Cotton Thread (small amount)
Steel Hook Size 7 (1.65mm)
Offray Ribbon 3/16" wide (1-10" length and 1-7" length)


Stitches: ch, sc, sl st, dc, picot.

Difficulty:  MEDIUM


VERTICAL BAR

Foundation Chain: Ch40

R1: Dc in 6th ch from hook.
(Ch1, sk 1ch, dc in next ch) across. Ch5
Sl st in the base of the last dc made.

R2: Ch1, turn. Sc in end ch-sp.
(Ch1, dc in same sp) 2 times
Picot
(Ch1, dc in same sp) 2 times
Ch1, Sc in same sp.
*Working along side.
[(Sc, picot, sc) in next ch-sp.] across to end.*

Sc in last ch-sp. (Ch1, dc in same sp) 2 times.
Picot
(Ch1, dc in same sp) 2 times.
Ch1, Sc in same sp.

Rep from * to * once.

Join with sl st in 1st sc.
Fasten Off.

HORIZONTAL BAR

Foundation Chain: Ch30

Rep Rs 1 & 2 same as Vertical Bar.

ASSEMBLY
Using photo as a guide, weave 10" length of ribbon through Vertical Bar.
Lay Horizontal Bar on top of Vertical Bar crossing the two evenly.
Weave the 7" length of ribbon through the Horizontal Bar as in photo.

The Vertical and Horizontal Bars are not sewn together for this pattern because the ribbon holds them together nicely. However, you may use coordinating thread to join them at the point where the two bars cross if you like.

Blocking and/or stiffening optional with this pattern.
