MATERIALS:
#10 Bedspread
Cotton Thread (small amount of two colors)
MC=Main Color CC=Contrasting Color
Steel Hook Size 7 (1.65mm)
3"(7.6cm) Plastic Canvas Cross
Stitches: ch, sc,
sl st.
Difficulty:
MEDIUM
R1: With MC, beginning at the bottom right corner of the cross (refer to photo below), insert the hook into the open space #1 and pull a loop through from the bottom side. Insert hook into open space #2 and pull a loop through the space as well as the loop on your hook. Working around the entire piece following the numbers on the photo, continue by inserting the hook into the next open space and pulling a loop through that space as well as the loop on your hook. This will look like a chain all around the cross. Finish this round by pulling up your last loop in open space #1.
EDGE
Place hook in Space #1 again, sc over the edge.
Working each stitch around the outside edge...
sc in spaces #2-11, sk space #12, sc in #13-16,
3sc in space #17, sc in #18-19, 3sc in #20, sc in 21-24,
sk #25, sc in #26-29, 3sc in #30, sc in #31, Ch2, Sc in #32,
3sc in #33, sc in #34-37, sk #38, sc in #39-42, 3sc in #43,
sc in #44-45, 3sc in #46, sc in #47-50, sk #51, sc in #52-61,
3sc in #62, sc in #63-64.
Join with sl st in first sc.
Fasten Off.
Center Section
With CC, beginning at #1 of center spaces (refer to photo), insert the hook into the open space #1 and pull a loop through from the bottom side. Insert hook into open space #2 and pull a loop through the space as well as the loop on your hook. Working around the entire piece following the numbers along the side of the cross in the photo, continue by inserting the hook into the next open space and pulling a loop through that space as well as the loop on your hook. This will look like a chain all around the cross.
Fasten off.
FRINGE
Cut 4 - 12" pieces of each color thread. Fold all pieces in half and add fringe in the Ch2 space at the top of the cross.
