Ties measure 20" long

The following pattern is my original design.

MATERIALS:

Red Heart Super Saver-4ply worsted weight (Red & White - small amount of each)      
Hook Size H
Hair elastic

Stitches: ch, fsc, sc, sl st.

Difficulty:  MEDIUM

TIE (Make 2 - one white and one red)

NOTE: for longer ties make more than 44fsc to begin.

Using White, Make 44fsc.
Ch1, 2sc around the hair elastic.
Working back down the opposite side of the work, sc in each unworked lp of ea fsc.
Sc in the end and slip stitch in the first st to join.

Fasten off.

Put hair up in a ponytail with the elastic.
Wrap the ties around the ponytail and tie in a bow. (see first photo)

OR

Put hair up in a ponytail with the elastic.
Then wrap the ties around the ponytail and tie at the bottom. (See second photo)
