MATERIALS:
Red Heart
4 ply WW Yarn (Hunter Green & White)
Hook Size G
Stitches: ch, sl st,
sc, spike stitch (a/k/a lsc)
Difficulty: MEDIUM
NOTE: This
is a great pattern to use up scrap yarns... just change to a new color
at every color change.
R1: With Green, ch22, sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in ea rem ch. (21sc)
R2-3: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea st.
Change to White
R4: Ch1, turn. Sc in first
st.
*Sc 1 row below in next st (this is a spike stitch).
Sc in next st.
Rep from * across.
Rs5-6: Ch1, turn. Sc in ea st.
Change to Green
Rs7-9: Rep Rs4-6
Change to White
Rs10-12: Rep Rs4-6
Rep from * twice more. (24 rows total)
Fasten off.
BORDER:
R1: Change to green in last
st. Ch1, turn.
Sc evenly across, 3sc in corner st.
Sc evenly down the side.
Change to white at the corner st. (center sc of 3sc in corner).
Sc evenly across the bottom.
3sc in corner.
Sc evenly along side being sure to finish the 3sc group in that corner.
R2: Join with sl st in first sc. Sc evenly around entire square, placing 3sc in ea corner st.
