Valentine Candy Tote
Measures
4-1/2" wide x 8" tall including handle.

The following pattern is my original design.
Please only copy or print this pattern for personal use.
Please contact me if you find any errors.

 

MATERIALS:

Red Heart Super Saver, White & Red (4ply worsted weight)
Hook Size I
10-12 inches of 1/4" red ribbon
Yarn Needle

Stitches: ch, sc.

Difficulty: MEDIUM


R1: Holding two strands of White, ch 10, hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in next 6 chs. 5hdc in last ch. Hdc in ea unworked lp of next 6 chs. 3hdc in last ch. (makes 5 sts in that ch) Join with sl st, ch2, turn.

R2: Hdc in same st. 2hdc in next 2 hdc. Hdc in next 6 hdc. 2hdc in next 5hdc. hdc in next 6hdc. 2hdc in next 2 hdc. Join with sl st in top of beg ch2. Ch2, do not turn.

R3: Hdc in bl only of ea st around. Join with sl st in top of beg ch2. (32hdc)

R4-12: Ch1, begin continuous round by working one sc in ea st around. Place a marker when you begin new rounds to keep count.

R13: Sl st in next st. Sc in bl only of ea st. Join with sl st.

Fasten Off.

HANDLE
Holding 2 strands of red together, (ch3, hdc in 3rd ch from hook) 10 times.
Fasten off. Sew handle on using the photo as a guide.

TRIM (only use one strand of yarn for the remainder of these instructions.

Bottom:
With Red, sc in the unworked loop of ea st on R3. Join with a sl st. Fasten Off.

Top:
With Red, (sc, ch1) in ea unworked loop of R13. Join with a sl st. Fasten Off.

HEART

R1: Ch2, 2sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch1, turn.

R2: 2sc in ea sc. Ch1, turn.

R3: Sc in 2sc, ch1, sc in last 2 sc. Ch2, turn.

R4: 2hdc in same st as ch2, sk next st. Sl st in ch1 sp, sk next st, 2hdc in last st.

Border: Ch1, do not turn. Sc evenly around entire heart placing (sc, ch1, sc) at the point and working a sl st in the same sp as the sl st on the previous round.

Join with sl st and fasten off leaving a 12" yarn tail. Using a yarn needle, tack the heart on the front of the tote. (I tacked it at the point and on both sides of the top.)
