WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.

James 1:2-6

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ; and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.

1 Peter 1:3-9

Whoever speaks, let him speak, as it were, the utterances of God; whoever serves, let him do so as by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. Beloved, do not be surprised at the finery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing; so that also at the revelation of His glory, you may rejoice with exultation. If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.

1 Peter 4:11-14

"YOU CAN ENDURE THIS LIFE'S TRIALS BECAUSE OF THE NEXT LIFE'S JOYS."

This quote is from Our Daily Bread - November, 2001 Issue.

CROCHET TIP:

When teaching someone to crochet I recommend using smooth yarns such as Red Heart Super Saver or Bernat Baby Sparkle. I recently tried to teach someone to crochet and they bought their own yarn. I learned really fast the Bernat Coordinates is definitely not a teaching yarn. It was so wavy/squiggly that I had trouble seeing the stitches myself.

VIEWER TIP:

I use the tall round Tupperware containers with the lift up opener on top to put my yarn in while I'm working. The yarn pulls out thru the tab opening. I used to use the two liter bottles but now I can't find the ones that the bottom can be put back on. Carolyn

VIEWER FEEDBACK

NOTE: Any comments left on the CNM website or sent via email may be posted here.

I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your site. I like the combining of crochet and Jesus!
I am a native Texan who now lives in Northern Ireland. Like some of the others who have written to you, I appreciated the patriotic ribbon . I pattern. made one and wear it proudly here. There has been so much support here as well for the Americans and that has been wonderful.

Your patterns are very easy to read and as a beginner crochet-er, that's great.
Again just wanted to let you know I do like the site.

Re: Granny Square

Thank you so much for the free pattern! I needed to find one in a hurry, so I called my mom, who tried to give me directions over the phone, but I just couldn't see it in my mind.. Next I looked through every book I had and couldn't find the one I had in mind. Finally, I did a search and there it was. I needed something simple to teach a friend's daughter tomorrow morning. Thanx again, soooooooo much.
Jacque

There isn't an error. I just wanted to let you know that I have enjoyed making the Hanging Dish Towel & Dish Cloth! Your instructions & count are excellent & very helpful. They turn out Beautiful! Everyone I have given a set to loves them. Thank God for your talent!

Beneta

First let me say that I love your news letter. I have recently been forced to stop working due to illness and I have reverted to my love of crocheting for sanity. Your site has been a wonderful source of both artistic and spiritual aid. THANK YOU!!! Now for my tip. Many of us who crochet our lives away have nothing to show for it because we give everything away, even if we started out making it for ourselves, someone always "just loves that". Well I found a way to preserve memories, use leftover yarn and have something for myself. I have been rolling all my extra yarn into a giant ball for the last twenty years. I know it is a bit strange and at first it was just so I could move easily, but it became a challenge to see how large it could get,{my kids egged me on} After awhile it was the size of a medicine ball and I was sick of looking at it. I took a large crochet hook and tackled that ball. With a hexagon pattern and lots of time on my hands I now have a wonderful crazey quilt of colors that I use on my round 60's bed that I could never find a blanket for. I don't recommend the ball, But suggest that you just begin crocheting perhaps a continuous square or other pattern. Work it through the years and one day like my children and I, you can lay on your bed and remember each special project and the love that went into it. Sorry I got so wordy, if you decide to use my tip feel free to shorten it greatly. Again thank you for your wonderful gift to all crocheters. God bless you. Dustyclown

I already receive your newsletter. I just wanted to suggest something I hope to do. I am currently crocheting a flag. I plan to download your flag sweater and also to make an afghan in red, white and blue. While I'm doing these I 'm going to talk to other people who do crafts and are already doing small things. I thought that if I couuld get enough people involved I can contact the local Fire Department or Police or a local church to see if they would like to raffle the crafts off to raise money for the Red Cross. I figure raffling will earn more $ than just selling them. Perhaps other subscribers would be interested in doing the same.

Sincerely,
Wendy Roos

<reply>
Dear Wendy:

I think this is a great idea as many police and fire departments hold fund-raising events annually.

Lisa

Hi: Love your e-mail subscriptions. Lots of tips etc.

I would like to see a few more of the complicated stitches. Examples being - - Front Post, Back Post, and the Cable. These are very interesting stitches and create a wonderful look on the pattern. I have made afghans, baby blankets etc with these stitches in them. I also subscribe to "Crochet With Heart". It is a wonderful book of patterns that allows me to broaden my horizon of stitches. I like trying new stitches to see what they look like and if I can master them. I really enjoy your e-mails. I always learn something each time I receive on. Thanks Katherine Mabb

Dog Biscuits!

After a day fishing in the ocean, a fisherman is walking from the pier
carrying two lobsters in a bucket. He is approached by the Game Warden
who asks him for his fishing license.

The fisherman says to the warden, "I did't catch these lobsters, they are my pets.
Every day I come done to the water and whistle and these lobsters jump out and
I take them for a walk only to return them at the end of the day."

The warden, not believing him, reminds him that it is illegal to fish without a license.

The fisherman turns to the warden and says, "Listen, if you don't believe me
then watch this," and he throws the lobsters back into the water.

The warden sees this and says, "Ok, now whistle to your lobsters and
show me that they will come out of the water."

The fisherman turns to the warden and says, "What lobsters?"

Bob had this problem of getting up late in the morning and was always late
for work.

After a few weeks of this, his boss was mad and threatened to fire him if he
didn't do something about it.

So Bob went to his doctor, who gave him a pill and told him to take it
before he went to bed. He got a great night's sleep and actually beat the
alarm in the morning. After a leisurely breakfast, he cheerfully drove to
work.

"Boss," he said, "The pill actually worked!"

"That's all fine," said the boss, "But where were you yesterday?"

What's The Difference?

How does Janice like being pregnant?" Bob asked his friend John.
"Oh, she's not pregnant," John replied, "she's expecting."
"What's the difference?" Bob pressed.
"Well, John explained, "She's expecting me to cook dinner,
she's expecting me to do the housework, she's expecting me
to rub her feet . . ."

After dying in a car crash, three friends go to Heaven for orientation. They are all asked the same question,
"When you're lying in your casket, and friends and family are mourning over you, what would you like to hear them say about you?" The first guy immediately responds, "I would like to hear them say that I was one of the great doctors of my time, and a great family man."

The second guy says, "I would like to hear that I was a wonderful husband and school teacher who made a huge dif
ference in the children of tomorrow." The last guy thinks for a moment, and then replies, "I guess I'd like to hear them say, 'Look, he's moving!'"

A new business was opening and one of the owner's friends wanted to send him
flowers for the occasion. They arrived at the new business site and the
owner read the card, "Rest in Peace."

The owner was angry and called the florist to complain.

After he had told the florist of the obvious mistake and how angry he was,
the florist replied, "Sir, I'm really sorry for the mistake, but rather than
getting angry, you should imagine this,

'Somewhere there is a funeral taking place today, and they have flowers with
a note saying, 'Congratulations on your new location.'"

Why do they put pictures of criminals up in the Post Office? What are we

supposed to do . . . write to these men? Why don't they just put their

pictures on the postage stamps so the mailmen could look for them while

they delivered the mail?
