WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.

Ephesians 6:12-13

But at the evening offering I arose from my humiliation, even with my garment and my robe torn, and I fell on my knees and stretched out my hands to the Lord my God; and I said, "O my God, I am ashamed and embarrassed to lift up my face to Thee, my God, for our iniquities have risen above our heads, and our guilt has grown even to the heavens.

Ezra 9:5-6

Now when Daniel knew that the document was signed, he entered his house (now his roof chamber he had windows open toward Jerusalem); and he continued kneeling on his knees three times a day, praying and giving thanks before his God, as he had been doing previously.

Daniel 6:10

"SATAN TREMBLES WHEN HE SEES THE WEAKEST SAINT UPON HIS KNEES."

This quote is from Our Daily Bread - February, 2004 Issue.

EXTENDED TREBLE CROCHET (XTR)

Submitted by Calm215

A while back I emailed you asking if you could explain a filet crochet stitch that did not make sense to me. You answered with your thoughts on the stitch. I have since found a book that explained it - the instructions were for a curtain and the stitch was used in the loop part of the curtain. This is the explaination the book gave (XTR) extended treble crochet: YO 6 times, draw up a loop in indicated st, (YO, draw through 2 lps on hook) seven times. seems to work. Thanks again for your email and if we ever have another problem, we will call on you. Calm215

CROCHET TIP:

When a pattern calls for working with two strands of the same color at once, pull from both ends of one skein. That way you don't have to buy an extra skein of yarn when you don't need it.

VIEWER TIP
Submitted by Candy Canfora

Hi Lisa,
While reading your tips (which were great) I thought of something I do. When you have to stop on a project, and there little ones who are very curious, I use a safety pin to hold my end. That way, if it gets moved, or little fingers want to look, there is no chance of losing any stitches.
Thanks for listening and hope this helps,
Candy

WE'RE RUNNING OUT OF STITCHES TO FEATURE!
If you have a stitch or tip you'd like to see here
drop us a line and include "STITCH/TIP" as the subject.

Please include your name and/or state of residence if you'd like to be recognized for your submission.

RE: Cream Filled Cookie Fridgie

Hi,
My name is Diana and I make the Oreo cookies and my pattern is different, but I loved seeing it. Many years ago, like 25 or 30 years!!! My daughter was eating an Oreo cookie and I was working on Christmas projects and thought wow I wonder if I could make a cookie like that as ornament, which I did and made them for a few years and stopped. This year while looking through some of my things found a cookie and decided to make a few. I came on this website and found yours, I was so tickled to see it. My pattern is much different, but the result is the same. Aren't they cute? Just wanted to share that with you.
Smiles,
Diana

* My Pet Peeve:
By Cylinda Mathews

My personal pet peeve is to find an error at the very end of
a big pattern. About 6
years ago, I chose a lovely tablecloth
pattern from either a Magic or Decorative Crochet magazine
to make for my mom.
On the last two rnds, after months of
working on this cloth, I found an error. Because these patterns
are in symbol
crochet, and the edge of the cloth was hidden in
the picture, I had to design my
own edging. My other pet peeve
is an
error at the very beginning. If you can't figure it out, or
contact the designer, you
can't even begin!

What's your pet peeve?

New Shoes...

The minister's little six-year-old girl had been so naughty during the week,
that her mother decided to give her the worst kind of punishment. She told
her she couldn't go to the Sunday School Picnic on Saturday.

When the day came, her mother felt she had been too harsh and changed her
mind. When she told the little girl she could go to the picnic, the child's
reaction was one of gloom and unhappiness.

"What's the matter? I thought you'd be glad to go to the picnic." her
mother said.

"It's too late!" the little girl said. "I've already prayed for rain!"

I had an offer from a large company and they offered to fly me out to the meeting on business class. During the return flight we were given gourmet brownies and cookies. Not hungry, I decided to save them for later, so I placed them in an airsickness courtesy bag.

After the plane landed I got up to leave and a stewardess approached me. She asked, "Sir, would you like for me to dispose of that for you?"

I said, "No thanks, I'm saving it for my kids."

Seven year old Johnny had finished his summer vacation and gone back to school.

Two days later his teacher phoned his mother to tell her that John was misbehaving.

"Wait a minute," she said. "I had Johnny here for two months and I never called you once when he misbehaved."

Thanks for the harmonica you gave me for Christmas," Little Johnny said to his Uncle Rodney, the first time he saw him after the holidays. "It's the best Christmas present I ever got."

"That's great," said his Uncle Rodney. "Do you know how to play it?"

"Oh, I don't play it," Little Johnny said. "My mom gives me a dollar a day not to play it during the day and my dad gives me five dollars a week not to play it at night.

A husband went to buy a birthday gift for his wife. Some friends had been invited over that night to celebrate her fortieth, and he wanted to get something special. At the store he spotted some cute little music boxes. One blue one was playing "Happy Birthday." Thinking they were all the same, he chose a red one and had it gift-wrapped.

Later, at dinner, he gave it to his wife and asked her to open it. When she lifted the lid, out came the tune to "The Old Gray Mare, She Ain't What She Used to Be!"

Our five-year-old son went to a church conference with my wife and me. He got restless, so my wife handed him a pad and pencil and suggested he mark down every time the speaker said the word "and."

After a while, he grew bored, and I asked, "Would you like to listen for a different word?"

"Yes," he whispered. "I'd like to listen for 'Amen'."

A mother and a daughter are shopping in the mall, when the mother eyes an expensive fur coat. "This year," she says, "I think that I will buy my present instead of making you and dad shop for me." The daughter nods in agreement. "And I think this fur coat would be perfect too."

The daughter protests, "But mom, some helpless, poor creature has to suffer so that you can have this."

"Don't worry honey," says the mother, "your father won't get the bill for a couple of weeks."

A woman rushes to see her doctor, looking very much worried and all strung out.

She rattles off, "Doctor, take a look at me. When I woke up this morning, I looked at
myself in the mirror and saw my hair all wiry and frazzled up, my skin was all wrinkled and pasty,
my eyes were blood-shot and bugging out, and I had this corpse-like look on my
face! What's wrong with me, Doctor?"

The doctor looks her over for a couple of minutes, then calmly says, "Well, I can tell you
one thing . . . there ain't nothing wrong with your eyesight."

The scene: Alexander Graham Bell's laboratory.

An exciting new discovery is about to take place. Mr. Bell and his assistant, a man named Watson, have been hard at work on Bell's new invention to transmit sound over wires.

As Mr. Watson toiled away in the room with the receiver, he suddenly hears ... ring, ring , ring .... then....

"Good evening, sir. Are you paying too much for your long distance service?"
