WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and have come from God, for I have not even come on My own initiative, but He sent Me. Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot hear My word. You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature; for he is a liar, and the father of lies. But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me. Which one of you convicts Me of sin? If I speak truth, why do you not believe Me? He who is of God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not hear them, because you are not of God.

John 8:42-47

But I am afraid, lest as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds should be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion of Christ.

2 Corinthians 11:3

The tunsian purl stitch was mentioned in this newsletter. Could you

Thanks,

CROCHET TIP:

VIEWER TIP:

Hi Lisa,
I just LOVE your website...especially the tips! I've been crocheting for 25
years and found some new and very helpful ideas.

I didn't see this tip listed so I thought I'd write and give it to you. If
your yarn keeps splitting when crocheting a project, try starting from the
other side of the skein. I always start in the center of a skein. However,
after ripping several rows out in frustration because of the yarn splitting
while doing an afghan, I tried starting on the outside of the skein. It
didn't split any after I did that.

VIEWER TIP:

Hi, I used the pattern you published for a CD Coaster, but found a marvelous new use for them. I covered 2 CDs, then putting underside to underside, put a few stitches through the center & tied it into a bow. I don't have any way to send a picture so I hope the information is understandable. It makes the greatest playing card holder for anyone who has trouble with their hands, like arthritis, in a cast, etc. I hope this helps a lot of people. It sure is handy for me. Thanks for all your other ideas.
Barb from Kansas.

RE: Sock Pattern

I can't thank you enough for having that childrens sock pattern online. I've been searching for days. A patient of mine asked me to find her the pattern and I don't know knit from crochet. So thank you again!

Kathleen

I was so happy to find this website. things haven't been going right lately. Crochet helps me to relax. I believe Jesus sent me here fo a purpose to be determined later.Laura

I am a beginner at crochet and feel so blessed to have found this website. There are so many wonderful crochet projects. To be able to get ideas from expert crocheters is a big help to me. To have it a Christian site is fantastic!! Thank you to all who contribute to this site. (I will contribute also once I am able to make my own designs!) God Bless! Jennifer

Taking the time to sign in. Great to see Jesus in the midst of our spare time. A truly lovely suprise. Greetings from a sister in Australia. Marion

Re: Free patterns

Dear Lisa,
Thank you so much for offering free patterns. I am a woman volunteering with "Youth for Christ". I am presently ministering, mentoring girls in juvenile detention centers, one is for mild offenders, the other for violent offenders with mental or emotional illnesses. Most of them have been badly abused physical and sexual, no moms or dads etc. They range from 12-18 years old. What a true blessing THEY are in my life. One of the girls I met this past Saturday asked me if I could help her crochet baby booties.I promised her a pattern(they all crochet @ the "higher level" home). She had a baby 2 weeks ago, her mom died 10/02, her grandmother has her baby in her care.Because of your site I am able to
reach/minister to her. God bless you and your family and business. Please pray for these girls and me!
Thank you! Sherri Russell

* My Pet Peeve:
By Cylinda Mathews

My personal pet peeve is to find an error at the very end of
a big pattern. About 6
years ago, I chose a lovely tablecloth
pattern from either a Magic or Decorative Crochet magazine
to make for my mom.
On the last two rnds, after months of
working on this cloth, I found an error. Because these patterns
are in symbol
crochet, and the edge of the cloth was hidden in
the picture, I had to design my
own edging. My other pet peeve
is an
error at the very beginning. If you can't figure it out, or
contact the designer, you
can't even begin!

What's your pet peeve?

B Batteries

This was sent to me by my friend Brooke Sizemore

This is brilliantly said!!

One day a 6 year old girl was sitting in a classroom. The teacher was going to explain evolution to the children. The teacher asked a little boy:

TEACHER : Tommy, do you see the tree outside?

TOMMY : Yes.

TEACHER : Tommy, do you see the grass outside?

TOMMY : Yes.

TEACHER : Go outside and look up and see if you can see the
sky.

TOMMY : Okay. (He returned a few minutes later) Yes, I saw the
sky.

TEACHER : Did you see God?

TOMMY : No.

TEACHER : That's my point. We can't see God because he isn't there. He doesn't exist.

A little girl spoke up and wanted to ask the boy some questions.
The teacher agreed and the little girl asked the boy :

LITTLE GIRL : Tommy, do you see the tree outside?

TOMMY : Yes.

LITTLE GIRL : Tommy, do you see the grass outside?

TOMMY : Yesssssssss (getting tired of the questions by this time).

LITTLE GIRL : Did you see the sky?

TOMMY : Yessssssssss.

LITTLE GIRL : Tommy, do you see the teacher?

TOMMY : Yes.

LITTLE GIRL : Do you see her brain?

TOMMY : No.

LITTLE GIRL : Then according to what we were taught today in school, she must not have one!!!

"FOR WE WALK BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT"

Two paramedics were dispatched to check on a 92-year-old man who had become
disoriented. They decided to take him to the hospital for evaluation.

En route, with siren going, they questioned the man to determine his level
of awareness. Leaning close, one asked, "Sir, do you know what we're doing
right now?"

The old man slowly looked up at him, then gazed out the ambulance window.

"Oh," he replied, "I'd say about 50, maybe 55."

A grandfather bought a hobby horse by mail order as a birthday present for
his granddaughter.

The toy arrived in 189 pieces. The instructions said that it could be put
together in an hour.

However it took the man two days to assemble the toy.

Finally, when it was all put together, he wrote a check, cut it into 189
pieces and mailed it off to the company.

A burglar broke into a house one night. He shined his flashlight around,
looking for valuables, and when he picked up a CD player to place in his
sack, a strange, disembodied voice echoed from the dark saying,
"Jesus is watching you."

He nearly jumped out of his skin, clicked his flashlight out, and froze.
When he heard nothing more after a bit, he shook his head, promised
himself a vacation after the next big score, then clicked the light back
on and began searching for more valuables. Just as he pulled the stereo
out so he could disconnect the wires, clear as a bell he heard,
"Jesus is watching you."

Freaked out, he shined his light around frantically, looking for the source
of the voice. Finally, in the corner of the room, his flashlight beam came
to rest on a parrot. "Did you say that?" He hissed at the parrot.

"Yep," the parrot confessed, then squawked, "I'm just trying to warn you."
The burglar relaxed. "Warn me, huh? Who in the world are you?"
"Moses," replied the bird.
"Moses?" the burglar laughed. "What kind of stupid people would name
a parrot Moses?"

The bird promptly answered, "Probably the same kind of people that
would name a Rotweiller "Jesus"!

One day a man went to an auction.

While there, he bid on a parrot. He really wanted this bird, so he got
caught up in the bidding. He kept on bidding, but kept getting outbid, so
he bid higher and higher and higher.

Finally, after he bid way more than he intended, he won the bid - the parrot
was his at last!

As he was paying for the parrot, he said to the auctioneer, "I sure hope
this parrot can talk. I would hate to have paid this much for it, only to
find out that he can't talk!"

"Don't worry," said the auctioneer,

"He can talk. Who do you think kept bidding against you?"

A guy was lonely and so he decided life would be more fun if he had a pet.
So he went to the pet store and told the owner that he wanted to buy an
unusual pet.

After some discussion, he finally bought a centipede (100-legged bug) ,
which came in a little white box to use for his house. He took the box back
home, found a good location for the box, and decided he would start off by
taking his new pet to a restaurant to have a meal.

So he asked the centipede in the box, "Would you like to go to Frank's with
me and have a bite to eat?" But there was no answer from his new pet.

This bothered him a bit, but he waited a few minutes and then asked him
again, "How about going out and having a snack with me?"

But again, there was no answer from his new friend and pet. So he waited a
few minutes more, thinking about the situation. He decided to ask him one
more time - this time putting his face up against the centipede's house and
shouting,he said, "Hey, in there! Would you like to go get some food with
me?

A tiny little voice came out of the box:...............

"I heard you the first time! I'm putting on my shoes."

Three goobers were walking through the woods when they came upon
a set of tracks.

"Looks like deer tracks", said one.

"No, it looks like maybe a cow track," another suggested.

"Actually, I think they are just dog tracks," the third offered.

They were still arguing when the train hit them!
