WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."

Acts 1:7-8

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Matthew 28:18-20

"And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.

Mark 16:15-16

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.

Galatians 5:22-26

"THE WORK JESUS ACCOMPLISHED FOR US
THE SPIRIT NOW ACCOMPLISHES IN US."

This quote is from Our Daily Bread - May, 2001 Issue.

CROCHET STITCH/TECHNIQUE:

BLOCKING & STIFFENING
(Technique submitted by Brandi Manning)

Thanks for the technique idea.
To block a doily you must finish the entire project and have all of the yarn tails weaved in.
It's best to wash the item before blocking to remove any excess oils and dirt that the item acquired during the crochet process. I find the sugar water solution works best for stiffening any thread project.
Sugar Water Recipe can be found here:
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Lane/4952/starch.html
I believe it's best to thoroughly dry the item before beginning the blocking process.
Dip the doily in the sugar solution and squeeze out the excess. Using a blocking pattern place the center of your doily in the center of the blocking pattern and pin it down with rust proof pins. Now shape the doily using the blocking pattern as a guide. This will make your doily more "round" and give it a more professional look.

The following website discusses blocking snowflakes and includes a chart for blocking doilies:
http://www.teleport.com/~noelvn/snowflakes/blocking.html

You can find another blocking pattern here:

CROCHET TIP:

Always work with the end of the yarn that comes from the center of the skein.
This keeps your skein from rolling around while you work.

VIEWER FEEDBACK

NOTE: Any comments left on the CNM website or sent via email may be posted here.

Hi,
Your website is my absolute favorite for finding easy but beautiful
crochet projects. I am self-taught, and have only been crocheting for
seven or eight months, but your patterns have really inspired me. I have
made your eyeglass case, the plastic bag keeper, and the baby booties 2
- all this month.

I did have trouble with the cross stitches in the plastic bag keeper
pattern, so I just kept doing the hdcs all around. It turned out really
cute! I used Red Heart's Medium Sage Green, and it's so pretty!

The other two patterns are perfect as you have them. : ) I used Peaches
and Cream for the eyeglass case, and it's so soft! I went back and made
three more to give away. The booties look great in any baby yarn... but
especially in the Jaime yellow yarn with the silvery thread running
through it.

I just wanted to thank you for having such a great site and for being so
generous with your patterns.
It's so great to find a site that offers patterns for things people can
actually use instead of things that just look pretty! I'm going to try
to make the cross bookmark and more baby booties this weekend. Oh, and
the cute tote bag too!

I'm working on a website of my own, and I hope you won't mind if I list
your site as my favorite.

Thanks so much.

Sincerely,
Vanessa Willis in NC

Dear Lisa,
Just wanted to let you know that I am very new to crochet. I came across
your site and I just love it! I love the way you are sharing the good news
of Jesus Christ to people. I have bookmarked your website and plan to visit
it often. Thanks so much.

Sincerely,

Rhonda Baker

I found your web-site recently, and did not have time to look at it very
much, but marked it for future reference. Today, being a holiday, I took a
closer look and enjoyed every part of it! God has been working on me lots
lately to re-commit more than ever to working more and more for Him. I am
so amazed at how He works things out in our lives! Anyway, I've become
really involved in several aspects of the Greater Louisville Billy Graham
Crusade, and look forward to what God has in store for me to do. I would
love to share more thoughts and ideas with you, and hear more about your
daily walk. I'm going to include you on my prayer list so that everyone
who visits your web-site will be encouraged by it. Thanks.

Gail West

A window salesman phoned a customer.

"Hello, Mr. Brown," said the sales rep. "I'm calling because our company
replaced all the windows in your house with our triple-glazed weather-tight
windows over a year ago, and you still haven't sent us a single payment."

Mr. Brown replied, "But you said they'd pay for THEMSELVES in 12 months."

Unaware that Indianapolis is on Eastern Standard Time and Chicago on Central
Standard Time, Bob inquired at the Indianapolis airport about a plane to
Chicago.

"The next flight leaves at 1:00 p.m.," a ticket agent said, "and arrives in
Chicago at 1:01 p.m."

"Would you repeat that, please?" Bob asked.

The agent did so and then inquired, "Do you want a reservation?"

"No," said Bob,

"But I think I'll hang around and watch that thing take off."

"Buying something on sale is a very special feeling. In fact, the less I pay
for something, the more it is worth to me. I have a dress that I paid so
little for that I am afraid to wear it. I could spill something on it, and
then how would I replace it for that amount of money?"
-- Rita Rudner

Just Talking Through your Teeth!

The minister had just had all of his remaining teeth pulled and new dentures were being made.

The first Sunday after the surgery, he only preached for 10 minutes. The second Sunday, he preached only 20 minutes. But, on the third Sunday he preached for 1 hour 25 minutes.

When asked about this by some of the congregation, he responded this way:

"The first Sunday, my gums were so sore it hurt to talk. The second Sunday, my dentures were hurting a lot. The third Sunday, I accidentally grabbed my wife's dentures and I couldn't stop
talking!"

Two little children, a boy and a girl, walked hand-in-hand to a neighbor's house. The little girl stood on her tiptoes and was just able to reach the doorbell. Then, an elderly lady greeted them at the front door. "Good morning, children," she said. "What can I do for you?" "We're playing house," the little girl answered. "This is my husband and I'm his wife. Can we come in?" Thoroughly enchanted by the scene confronting her, the elderly lady replied, "By all means, do come in." Once inside, she offered the children lemonade and cookies, which they graciously accepted. When a second tall glass of lemonade was offered, the little girl remarked, "No thank you. We have to go now. My husband just wet his pants."
