GENERAL NEWS

Dear Subscriber:

I've been teaching my 4 year old daughter, Haley, to crochet during these past few weeks. She began with a chain and once that was pretty even I showed her a single crochet. She worked many singles before I showed her how to do a double crochet stitch... now she's a little designer. Here's a photo of her first "big project" and if you look toward the top you can see how she's making it up as she goes.

Haley's First Crochet Project

Today she came to me asking to use my cotton yarn... so now she has a coaster started too :o)
It seems so strange to sit down to crochet and have my little one join me... now I finally have someone to crochet with !

Teach someone to crochet today... they're never too young or too old to learn.

WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

For He did not subject to angels the world to come, concerning which we are speaking. But one has testified somewhere, saying, "WHAT IS MAN, THAT THOU REMEMBEREST HIM? OR THE SON OF MAN, THAT THOU ART CONCERNED ABOUT HIM? THOU HAST MADE HIM FOR A LITTLE WHILE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS; THOUGH HAST CROWNED HIM WITH GLORY AND HONOR, AND HAST APPOINTED HIM OVER THE WORKS OF THY HANDS; THOU HAST PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET."For in subjecting all things to him, He left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we do not yet see all things subjected to him. But we do see Him who has been made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone. For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings. For both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father for which reason He is not ahsmaed to call them brethren, saying, "I WILL PROCLAIM THY NAME TO MY BRETHREN, IN THE MIDST OF THE CONGREGATION I WLLL SING THY PRAISE."

Hebrews 2:5-12

Therefore do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need, before you ask Him.

Matthew 6:8

"WHEN YOUR WORLD SEEMS TO BE FALLING APART,
LOOK TO JESUS WHO HOLDS EVERYTHING TOGETHER."

This quote is from Our Daily Bread - November, 2001 Issue.

Thanks so much for passing my newsletter along to your friend... I hope she enjoys CNM. I try to contact many people with each issue as possible so by all means... feel free to send it to everyone you know.

I just wanted to thank you for the information you have available.
My mother taught me to crochet so long ago and I was mistaken thinking I could just pick up and go again. I had trouble reading the instructions and tried after two hours of, well, nothing to show for it but tangles.

I'm attempting to make afghans for my husband's family in Thailand. Because of your easy to understand instructions, I now feel much more comfortable.

I appreciate your help and wanted you to know that you have a great site.

God Bless!

With Sincere Thanks,

I am an animal behaviorist specializing in training cats. I have been
looking for a sweater pattern to make a sweater for my cat who, incidentally,
wears sweaters beautifully. She is a black and silver Peke Persian. I
intend to make this sweater, hopefully, for the holidays. My idea is to make
the sweater in red and silver metallic stripes and embellish it with small
felt holly leave appliqued on the back of it. Hope it turns out good.

Although Dolly (my cat) wears the sweaters that are made for dogs there is
not much variety for her because her chest and leg spans is different from a
dogs. Everything I every got for her had to be altered and believe me, she
has a wardrobe that looks better than mine. My friends love her and remember
her on her birthday and at Christmas. She now owns five doggy type sweaters
a sweat shirt and a rain poncho. What more can a Persian Princess want.

Thanks again for the pattern.

Louise H. Lovison and Dolly

Kitchen Sign

My Uncle Joe got fired from his construction job. I asked him what
happened.

"You know what a foreman is?" he asked.

"The one who stands around and watches the other men work? What's that got
to do with it?" I asked.

"Well, he just got jealous of me," Uncle Joe explained. "Everyone thought
I was the foreman."

An elderly man inquired of his wife about a recent, large expense.

"Well yes I bought this new hearing aid, dear." his wife replied.

"How much did it cost, dear?," he asked.

"Four thousand dollars," she said.

"Four thousand dollars! Why would you have to pay so much for a
hearing aid?", he exclaimed.

"It's a wonderful hearing aid. Why I can hear everything around me.
I can make out everything that people are saying around me even from
the other side of the room."

"Really? What kind is it?"

"It's five-thirty," she said checking her watch. "Why?"

A man walked into a shoe store, and tried on a pair of shoes.

"How do they feel?" asked the sales clerk.

"Well they feel a bit tight," replied the man.

The assistant promptly bent down and had a look at the shoes and at
the man's feet.

"Try pulling the tongue out," the clerk said.

"Well, theyth sthill feelth a bith tighth."

A sign was hung in an office window. It read:

Help wanted.
Must type 70 words a minute.
Must be computer literate.
Must be bilingual.
An equal opportunity employer.

A dog was ambling down the street and saw the sign. He looked at it
for a moment, pulled it down with his mouth, and walked into the
manager's office, making it clear he wished to apply for the job.

The office manager laughed and said, "I can't hire a dog for this
job."

The dog pointed to the line: "An equal opportunity employer."

So the manager said, "OK, take this letter and type it." The dog went
off to the word processor and returned a minute later with the
finished letter, perfectly formatted.

The manager said, "Alright, here's a problem. Write a computer
program for it and run it."

Fifteen minutes later, the dog came back with the correct answer.

The manager still wasn't convinced. "I still can't hire you for this
position. You've got to be bilingual."

The dog looked up at the manager and said, "Meow."

Helpful Little Man

Johnny, age 5, was being taught to be neat and clean and to pick up
after himself. One evening after taking his bath his mother asked him
if he had picked up and taken care of his dirty clothes.

He replied, "Yes Mom, I picked them up and put them right in the
hamster".

Two men were riding on a motorcycle. The one on the back kept on
complaining about being cold. The driver stopped and told him to put his
leather jacket on backwards to break the wind. He changed his coat and
they started out again.
The motorcycle hit a rough spot in the road and the man on the back fell
off. When the driver noticed his friend had disappeared, he went back to
find him. A big crowd had gathered around the man at the side of the road.
The driver pushed his way through the crowd. "Is he hurt?" he asked. "I
don't know," a man scratched his head, "He didn't seem to be in much
trouble, but we turned his head around the way it belonged and he hasn't
spoken a word since!"
